Despite its name, the Strawberry Begonia Plant is not a true begonia or geranium, but rather a unique member of the Saxifrage family, native to Asia. This plant charms with its bluish-green, fuzzy leaves and distinctive growth habit, spreading elegantly through runners, much like a strawberry plant. It’s a beautiful, evergreen addition to any indoor or outdoor space, producing lovely white flowers with pointed petals and a bright yellow center that bloom gracefully.

Ideal for hanging baskets indoors or as an ornamental ground cover outdoors, the Strawberry Begonia thrives in well-draining soil and prefers bright, indirect light. Its ability to propagate easily from its runners makes it a delightful and rewarding plant to grow, constantly refreshing its display with new growth.

Begonia Basic Care: Easy/Medium

  • Watering: Keep it balanced—neither soaked nor parched. Let the top inch of soil dry out before watering again.
  • Light: Prefers bright to moderate indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch those tender leaves.
  • Soil/Drainage: Thrives in a peat-based, well-draining soil mix.
  • Temperature/Humidity: Loves moderate to high humidity. Average room temperature works but keep it away from frost.
