Tradescantia fluminensis 'Nanouk'

Tradescantia 'Nanouk' is one of the most popular and colorful trailing houseplants, admired for its striking variegated foliage and easy-going nature. Thick, medium-green leaves are beautifully striped with shades of cream, soft pink, and lavender, while the undersides glow a rich magenta-purple, creating stunning color from every angle. Its fuller growth habit and larger leaves set it apart from many other Tradescantia varieties, making it a true standout in any indoor plant collection.

Fast-growing and exceptionally easy to care for, 'Nanouk' looks beautiful cascading from hanging baskets, spilling over decorative planters, or adding a vibrant accent to desks, shelves, and windowsills. Tradescantia 'Nanouk' Basic Care: Easy

Watering: Allow the top 1 inch of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, but avoid letting the soil become soggy or completely dry.

Light: Thrives in bright to medium indirect light. Bright light helps maintain the vivid pink variegation and compact growth. Avoid prolonged direct afternoon sun.

Soil/Drainage: Use a quality, well-draining houseplant potting mix. Containers should have drainage holes to prevent excess moisture around the roots.

Temperature/Humidity: Prefers temperatures between 60–80°F with average household humidity. It appreciates higher humidity but adapts well to typical indoor environments.

Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during winter.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes rootbound to refresh the soil and encourage vigorous growth.

General Tips: Pinch back stem tips regularly to encourage fuller, bushier growth. Stem cuttings root quickly in water or soil, making propagation easy. Providing bright light is the key to maintaining the bold pink coloration that makes 'Nanouk' so popular.

-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.
