Digitalis × mertonensis 'Strawberry'

Strawberry Foxglove is a striking perennial with tall spikes of rosy-pink to crushed strawberry-red flowers. The tubular, gently nodding blooms are delicately spotted inside and rise dramatically above a lush base of large, velvety green leaves, bringing beautiful height, color, and old-fashioned charm to the garden.

Reaching 3–4 feet tall in bloom, Strawberry Foxglove makes an impressive vertical accent for cottage gardens, woodland edges, perennial borders, and pollinator plantings. Its nectar-rich flowers attract hummingbirds and other pollinators, while deer and rabbits generally avoid the foliage. Although considered a short-lived perennial, it can self-seed when conditions are favorable.

Plant Details:

  • Width: 18–24 in
  • Shape: Upright, clump-forming
  • Exposure: Part Shade to Full Sun
  • Foliage: Rich Green, velvety
  • Hardiness Zones: 4–8

Why you’ll love it:

  • Strawberry-Pink Flowers: Beautiful rosy-pink to strawberry-red blooms create a distinctive garden display.
  • Tall Flower Spikes: Add dramatic vertical interest to borders and mixed perennial beds.
  • Pollinator Friendly: Tubular flowers attract hummingbirds, bees, and other garden pollinators.
  • Beautiful Foliage: Large, velvety green leaves remain attractive beneath the flower spikes.
  • Deer & Rabbit Resistant: Generally avoided by browsing deer and rabbits.
  • Cottage Garden Favorite: Perfect for adding romantic color and height to traditional and naturalistic plantings.

Growing Tips

Plant in rich, moist, well-drained soil in partial shade to full sun. In hotter climates, afternoon shade can help protect plants from excessive heat. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during winter. Removing spent flower spikes can encourage more blooms, while leaving some flowers to mature lets the plant self-seed. All parts of Digitalis are toxic if ingested, so plant with care around children and pets.

With its tall spikes of strawberry-pink flowers and lush, velvety foliage, Strawberry Foxglove brings dramatic height, romantic color, and pollinator appeal to the perennial garden.

Order & Shipping Info:

-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.

Important:

  • Report any order issues the day they arrive by emailing info@magicvalleygardens.com with a photo. After 24 hours, no refunds, returns, or exchanges—no exceptions.
  • We guarantee plants arrive alive, but can’t promise long-term success given the nature of plants.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Many plants recover with proper care, so refunds may not be needed.
