Philodendron 'Red Moon'

Philodendron 'Red Moon' is a rare, colorful tropical houseplant prized for its extraordinary mix of fiery red, orange, yellow, and green foliage. New growth can emerge in brilliant shades of red, orange, and neon yellow before gradually developing deeper lime and rich green tones as the leaves mature. The result is an ever-changing display of warm tropical color that makes every new leaf exciting.

The variegation on 'Red Moon' is especially striking, with splashes and sections of vivid red and yellow contrasting against green foliage. Because the coloration varies naturally from leaf to leaf, no two plants—or even two leaves—look exactly alike. Despite its collector-worthy appearance, 'Red Moon' has relatively straightforward care requirements and makes a spectacular statement in a bright indoor space.

Height: 2–4 feet indoors

Philodendron 'Red Moon' Basic Care: Easy to Medium

Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess moisture to drain away. Avoid keeping the plant in soggy soil.

Light: Provide bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and vibrant coloration. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the yellow and variegated foliage.

Soil/Drainage: Use a chunky, well-draining tropical or aroid mix. Potting soil amended with orchid bark and perlite provides excellent drainage and airflow around the roots.

Temperature/Humidity: Prefers temperatures between 65–85°F with moderate to high humidity. Average household humidity is generally suitable, though additional humidity can encourage lush growth.

Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes rootbound. Choose a container only slightly larger than its current pot and always provide adequate drainage.

General Tips: Variegation on 'Red Moon' can naturally vary from leaf to leaf, so expect each new leaf to bring a slightly different combination of colors. Provide plenty of bright filtered light to help showcase its vivid coloration, and rotate the plant periodically to encourage balanced growth.

Order & Shipping Info:

-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.
