Philodendron 'Brasil' Basic Care: Easy

Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess moisture to drain away. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.

Light: Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Brighter filtered light helps maintain its vibrant yellow and lime variegation, while very low light may make the foliage greener. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun.

Soil/Drainage: Use a loose, well-draining tropical or aroid potting mix. Adding orchid bark and perlite can improve drainage and airflow around the roots.

Temperature/Humidity: Prefers temperatures between 65–85°F and moderate humidity. It adapts well to average household humidity but appreciates slightly higher humidity.

Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes rootbound. Choose a container with drainage holes that's only slightly larger than the existing pot.

General Tips: Pinch or prune long vines to encourage fuller, bushier growth. 'Brasil' can be allowed to trail naturally or trained to climb a trellis or moss pole. Stem cuttings root easily, making this an excellent plant to propagate and share.

Order & Shipping Info:

-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.
