Philodendron ‘Birkin’

Philodendron ‘Birkin’ is an upright, clumping houseplant known for its striking cream-and-white pinstripe markings on deep green leaves. New leaves emerge green and gradually develop dramatic striping as they mature, giving you an ever-changing display of foliage throughout the year. No two leaves are the same, making each plant truly unique.

This compact, slow-growing philodendron has a thick, self-supporting stem, creating a structured, almost tree-like shape that looks great on tabletops, shelves, and desks. Its tidy growth habit makes it an excellent choice for smaller spaces or anyone who prefers a low-maintenance plant with a bold look.

Occasionally, Philodendron ‘Birkin’ may produce leaves with hints of red or mixed striping styles, which is a normal and fascinating quirk of this cultivar. The plant is believed to be a rare mutation of Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo’ or a hybrid between two philodendron varieties, adding to its collectible appeal.

Important: Like all philodendrons, this plant is toxic to people and pets if ingested.

Philodendron Basic Care: Easy to Medium

  • Water: Can only go 1-2 weeks without water so check on it weekly and add water every time the top two inches of soil dry out.
  • Light: Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent foliage scorching.
  • Soil/Drainage: This plant benefits from a chunky tropical houseplant mix. Adding orchid bark or perlite can improve drainage.
  • Temperature/Humidity: Prefers higher humidity but can adapt to average household humidity and temperatures.

Order & Shipping Info:
-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.
