Monstera esqueleto Basic Care: Easy

Watering: Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry before watering thoroughly. Consistent moisture helps, but avoid keeping the soil constantly wet or letting the roots sit in standing water.

Light: Prefers medium to bright indirect light. Plenty of bright filtered light supports healthy growth and mature foliage development. Protect from intense direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Soil/Drainage: Thrives in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. A quality tropical houseplant soil amended with orchid bark and perlite also works well.

Temperature/Humidity: Prefers temperatures between 65–85°F and moderate to high humidity. Humidity around 60–80% is ideal, though established plants can adapt to average household humidity with consistent care.

Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes rootbound. Use a container with adequate drainage and avoid moving into an excessively large pot.

Support: Provide a moss pole, cedar plank, or other sturdy vertical support. Allowing Monstera esqueleto to climb is one of the best ways to encourage larger, increasingly fenestrated mature foliage.
