This cool weather vegetable resembles an above ground turnip. Kohlrabi has a crisp, mild flavor that's best when eaten when 2"-3" in diameter. The tender bulbs are high in vitamin C!

Instructions: Start Early White Vienna Kohlrabi seeds indoors in a sunny location 6 weeks before the ground can be worked. Or, sow directly in garden rows placing one seed every 3". When plants are 3" tall, thin to 6" apart.
Suggestions: For fall use, plant in midsummer. Harvest Kohlrabi when bulbs are 2"-2.5" across. Cook Kohlrabi as you would turnips. A few tender leaves add flavor to steamed roots.
