Berberis thunbergii ‘Golden Torch’
From early spring, when its bright yellow red tinged leaves begin to emerge, until the last days of autumn, when its golden leaves fall will be a pillar of light in the garden. Placed near Colorful Conifers or among garden perennials, it will add to the drama in your garden. Its narrow, upright form makes it useful in spaces requiring a small footprint or in containers on the patio or deck. It may enjoy some shade from intense summer sun and it prefers moist, well-drained soil.

- Growth Rate: 6-8″/year
- Habit: Narrow Upright
- Hardiness: Zone 4
- Exposure: Sun to Partial Shade
Many perennials and bonsai plants will have a ‘winter look’ that differs from how they look when actively growing. Colder temperatures and short days alter the appearance of these plants as they go thru seasonal changes. Some plants require this reboot to bloom and/or perform at their best during the growing season. Plants may remain semi-dormant until early spring. Rest assured that these cosmetic changes do not adversely affect the health of your plant.
